I had my scan on Friday, my baby is now 22 weeks, the same as the baby in the picture above, he (yes he) weighs somewhere around a pound and is about a foot long from top to bottom. He is fully formed, he can hear and last year a baby girl was born at his gestational age and survived.
All appears to be well, there were no abnormalities visible on the scan and I have some lovely pictures, which I will pop up here in the next week or so, he has a name now, and my children will all be calling my tummy this until he emerges, due date is 13th March, one day before my eldest son’s 11th birthday! I am delighted to be able to share good news with you, and I am feeling reassured that even if my body is a wreck and I’m falling apart the little dude is doing well.
He is kicking the hell out of me on a regular basis, but it’s not yet possible for my partner to feel him, I suppose the next few weeks will bring that pleasant surprise for him, when he starts snoring at night there will be two of us to kick him in the back!!!
Awesome!
Yayayayay, and I presume you’re naming him some variant of Raptureponies… it’s unisex!
Glad it’s all going good, and especially another pair of feet for kicking!
x
I am pleased to report, that despite the fact that she’s a wreck, the Midge is looking strong and fighting fit and groovy!
Ah Darren, sorry to report baby won’t be called darren!
RP, I’ll tell you the name when I am talking to you in person, I think it’s a good name, fits well into the rest of the kiddies names.
Jo, you are too kind! Way too sweet but thanks a million!
@Midge God no, Darren’s an awful name. Go with Dominic.
I am an adult and fully understand the “birds and the bees” and the workings of the human body – yet actually seeing a baby on a scan overwhelms my tiny brain. It’s just so magical. Really – Yes I said something soppy.
How about Sherako?
Dominic is a lovely name, as is sherako, but I am pleased to tell you his name will be Oscar!
I’m thinking Oscar the Grouch!
It feels right and when my oldest son saw the scan picture he said, “Oh, he does look like an Oscar!”
The scan photos are magical, but then the baby moving inside is magical too, it’s something so special and unique between a mother and a child.
Having said that, I think scans are magical too, but nothing compared to childbirth which can be an amazing experience, to see this new human being emerge from your body, it’s really something amazing, what the human body can do!
our little one used to kick p in the kidneys in bed, if i curled up to him! she kicked a lot, and now she still kicks a lot, she can be quite an angry baby! glad to hear all is going well! oscar’s a great name!
some of our scan pictures freaked me out, rather than putting my mind at ease… it’s all so blurry and ambiguous…
